Riches

I watched rain across water
From a darkening sky
with the sound of the sea
and thunder close by

I felt salt on my lips
As it dried in the sun
Born of a morning
As the day had begun

I saw seagulls hunting
for morsels of food
And a sheen on the water
From the beach where I stood

I breathed deep in the silence
as a stiffening breeze
whispered there quietly
and blew the sand from my knees

And  I trembled and drank up
All that I saw
How could a man ever
Want or ask more?
