River wends its lazy way
To the waiting sea
Always seems enticing
To the likes of me
Beautiful. Inviting.
Perfect, smooth flat calm
Waiting for the summer
And its heady warming balm
Sunglare on the water
Frigid to the touch
Swimming at this time of year
Is just a bit too much
Sussex in my breeding
The ocean in my soul
Food for mind and spirit
Helps to keep me whole
