These Streets…

These streets are mine
a thousand times I tread them every day
I know them well, I hold them dear
with words I cannot say

These streets are mine
Familiar, I know them every one
be that when cold and raining
or brighter in the sun

These streets are mine
A part of me as I am part of them
My birthright, my belonging
just like a closest friend

These streets are mine
This Shoreham, this Sussex by the sea
a place that I will always live
and simply ever be

I love this poem and it was the first thing I read when I logged in today. I am really interested in sense of belonging and the importance of place.
