Mr Brown (not his name)
just a name that we gave
has a hive in his hut
which he’s trying to save
A man with a pole
and a spray and a hat
came and prodded about
and it seemed that was that
But the bees were quite savvy
and wise to the plot
as this seemed a nice place
and they liked this fine spot
So they didn’t play ball
just buzzed all around
And Mr Brown and his friend
weren’t pleased with the sound
Yet they made best of it
and after a while
were doing a dance
on the beach for a smile
The bees they joined in
and because of the heat
Mr Brown and his friend
made a hasty retreat
The bees then went back
to their hive in the hut
and settled right down
when the door it was shut
Mr Brown and his friend
with the pole and the hat
jumped up and down
with annoyance at that
No doubt they be back
with a box and some gloves
to find a new home
for the bees they will love
But for now the last word
with a sting in the tail
is held by the bees
and me here to regale

I didn’t get a pic of Mr Brown’s dance with the bees as I was (at the time) bent over double with laughter. So here’s a pic of the Lancing beach green huts where this story is based. Photo – Jempics

You may think that it’s funny
While the weather’s nice and sunny.
But the Browns will make their money
When the bees produce some honey

Probably not going to happen now – a man with a hat and gloves and a box took the hive away a few days back. Good comment though 😀
