It’s been said before
but my pen can’t keep still
as I write every day
on a whim and a will
Words about life
I see around me
and the things that I do
and the world that I see
It’s something I do
Lifeblood of my being
Capturing words
about all I am seeing
And when I have written
something else that I do
is publish them daily
and share them with you

Rustic, these sculptures
turn their heads to the sky
be it grey or bright blue
with clouds floating by
In our garden their splendour
brings pleasure each day
Each unique and quite gorgeous
in their own special way
We’re so pleased that we found them
in the Lewes town store
and it’s not beyond reason
that we’ll go back for more

Came back to the beach
but I didn’t stay long
for instead of the sun yesterday
Out to the East it looked a bit grim
and the clouds to the West were all grey
Having said that this place
be it raining or shine
has a magic that constantly sings
So I’ll always return and sit here a while
whatever the weather it brings

This time last year
we were spoilt that’s for sure
As the sunshine it came
and the temperatures soared
But this year it seems
we’ve returned to the fray
For June in full swing
sees rain every day
It’s windy and frankly
the warmth could be better
and the plants that I’m growing
get wetter and wetter
I’m thankful for that
though I would like some sun
to reassure me
that the summer has come

To the beach hut for breakfast
after music and laughter
watching the sea with some toast
Here with good friends
in the place that we love
down on the fine Sussex coast
We’ve done 60/40
(well, the birthdays at least)
The anniversary is still to come
It’s been a real blast
and long may it last
as we carry on having fun

The day has arrived
the one after Solstice
so the light will be with us til late
And here in midsummer
down on the beach
the atmosphere will be great
We’ve friends who are coming
from miles away
we have not seen for some time
So you can be sure
that we’ll celebrate
and that everything will be fine
60/40 is here
Party and music
and dancing you can be sure
For this is the moment
for many months
that we have been waiting for

The venue is booked
and the playlist is ready
the invites sent months ago
And now, come the summer
it’s almost the time
for us to get on with the show
60/40 is here
celebratory time
