Autumnal sun

I went back to the beach
though the summer was done
But there was still a warmth
in the autumnal sun
The sea was the same
with the waves a deep blue
reflecting the sky
with its colour and hue

And the peace and the solitude
down there with the sun
was perfect I’d say
with my working day done
So I sat there a while
and reflected that this
is where my contentment
borders on bliss

Bliss III

Watching as the sun goes down
on beach huts in a row
Catching the last rays
as in Western skies quite slow
it settles on another day
and evening time comes in
with golden glow to capture
the shadows lengthening

The breeze is gentle, fragrant
The sea, a flattened calm
Relaxing to the watching eye
just like a soothing balm
And my camera is ready
as I do not want to miss
this spectacle of nature
which to me is perfect bliss

Bliss by the water

Down by the waterside
in April sunshine
In the city of Bristol
with weather so fine

There’s history here
from when I was a boy
I’m re-visiting now
with an aim to enjoy

And the laughter the sun brings
encourages this
sitting here peacefully
for enjoyment and bliss

Pink and gorgeous

It was there in mid April
delivered with grace
Pink and quite gorgeous
and right in my face

Blossom to tell me
that Spring really was
here now the winter
had ended because
the sun had had
enough of all this
and needed to show us
a little of bliss

Bliss that with blossom
so lovely and pink
gives pause just to wonder
and ponder and think
that now we can all
look forward to sun
and warm days of summer
for laughter and fun

Bliss II

Across wet sand
as evening falls
the sea a whisper
silence calls
And here stand I
to witness this
exquisite moment
born of bliss

Snapshot

Once more I am waiting
on a station, it’s dark
It’s been a long day
and I was up with the lark

There’s a train in the distance
to take me back home
so I caught its arrival
right there on my phone

Insignificant? Yes
A small chunk of life
but it’s taking me back
to my dog and my wife

And I’m grateful for that
as small things like this
bring me a little more
joy and some bliss

Asthma

fullsizeoutput_168a

The pressure of the tightness
like a vice around my chest
This cruel incumbent halting
any chance to get some rest
Insomnia resulted
as breath comes short and fast
the hours passing slowly
’til the morning comes at last

The simple joy of motion
is denied, at least, with ease
As walking is a stuggle
when you can barely breathe
Such is the lot of those like me
When a breath quite often is
Something really special
if not to say, pure bliss
