Poetic

Moody skies above the Thames
on early winter morn
I’d shiver in the brittle chill
save for the coat I’ve worn
But Tower Bridge beneath the blue
with massive skies right there
Is such to take my breath away
That I just had to share

You see, it’s simple, truth be told
when views like this I see
Words will follow, honed to verse
and then to poetry
For scenes like this, ‘poetic’
is the only thing to say
to encapsulate the moment
shared and captured by the day

Breathtaking II

2 of 5 in the Jemverse ’31’ series

The view up here on Devil’s Dyke
looking to the West
is I think in Sussex
one of the very best
In the fading distance
Chanctonbury Ring
and rolling up to that far point
the hills that make me sing

Breathtaking

20161008_152349

Over in a Western sky
seen from Goring beach
a band of yellow ochre
on horizon, out of reach
I know there’s sunshine out there
but from the grey above the sea
I know the rain will come
and keep the warming rays from me

Yet, standing here and watching
the splendour in this view
I am invigorated
here with pleasure to accrue
For this vista is breathtaking
in the sunshine and the rain
which is why I simply will return
here time and time again

Because I can

20160523_130002

Took a walk to Goring beach
(the sunshine said I could)
Because I can and truth be told
if you were me, you would
A crime to stay tied to a desk
when just two miles away
is something quite as wonderful
as this breathtaking bay
The picture says it all I think
The beach, the sea, the sun
So at any opportunity
It’s this way that I will come
