Lifting II

I’m thinking of a song I heard
one that brought a grin
for that is what I need right now
with the state I’m in
I’m trying hard, don’t get me wrong
and I know I’m not alone
as there are many others out there
who like me must stay at home
But it’s hard remaining positive
so I need a helping hand
provided by a favourite song
sung by a favourite band

For music has that special power
to lift when things are low
and bring you right back up to speed
when all around is slow
So I’m singing loud that song I heard
with the grin it brought to me
as that is what I need right now
for the lifting here you see
And I’ll keep right on singing loud
for everyone to hear
As in these troubled times a song
is bound to bring some cheer

Humbling pride and cheer

Someone I have never met
humbled me today
posted comment on my blog
with what they had to say

Tears they trickled as I read
with joy and pleasure there
And the tugging of my heartstrings
was way beyond compare

For these were words straight from the heart
with feeling posted there
Did my heart proud and brought to me
a bucketload of cheer

Of Writers and Readers I

Part 1 of 3

Cathartic the writing
the pen to the page
Words from the poet
the seer and sage
To capture life’s moments
like a photograph here
And bring to the reader
a little more cheer

The Poet’s Gift

Beauty in
a little verse
Never sad
and never terse
Words to cheer
and bring a lift
All within
The Poet’s gift

Giggle and cheer

To Alcampo for brunch
with the family in tow
London Road, Brighton
devoid now of snow

Good conversation
Flat whites and beer
A nice place to come
for a giggle and cheer

And I think this is what
the weekends are for
as with family close
I could not ask for more

Pixelated Smile

On Rose Hill Close in Brighton
on the corner by the wall
A pixelated smiley face
colourful but small
we spied as we were waiting
for the traffic lights to change
Not something you see every day
it really was quite strange

No clue as to its purpose
but maybe that’s the thing
Just a little cheerfulness
some merriment to bring
If so then it has done its job
with flair and even style
As for us when we drove by it
it brought to each a smile

Caryopteris

With delicate blue flowers
Caryopteris in the sun
Brings a certain cheerfulness
Enjoyed by everyone

And though Autumn’s round the corner
The beauty here displayed
Retains a bit of summer
As the green begins to fade
