I think that if there’s one
thing to remind me of the Spring
It is the humble daffodil
and the pleasure it will bring
It’s all about the yellow
bringing warmth sealed by the sun
And something of the promise
as the shadow days are done
So as February fades to March
its birth flower to the fore
Here’s to the humble daffodil
with a hearty loud encore

No.8 of 12 in the Jemverse ’12 months’ series

The most appropriate flower
that the first of March could bring
is the daffodil with yellow
which promises the Spring
We’re done now with the winter
the chill is past its prime
And we clammer for the warmer days
that come with summer time
So come now March with promise
bring on those longer days
and remind us of the spring time
in all your different ways

Someone brought some daffodils
to brighten up the place
They put sunshine yellow in our home
and a smile upon my face
It’s still too early for the spring
with winter time out there
But as it’s summertime inside our house
we don’t mind or care

It is the humble daffodil
and the pleasure it will bring
It’s all about the yellow
Bringing warmth sealed by the sun
and it’s something of the promise
at shadow’s end with light begun
From the monochrome of winter
the brightest colour for a while
The bright but humble daffodil
is sure to bring a smile
