In times such as these

A long shaft of sunlight
peirced the gloom
and lit up an otherwise
darkly clad room
It spoke of a promise
born on a smile
with a voice full of hope
I’d not heard in a while

So I stood up and danced
round the room for a bit
Laughing and whooping
and quite full of it
For this rarest of moment
a gift to be seized
is precious and wholesome
in times such as these

60/40 II (The day)

The day has arrived
the one after Solstice
so the light will be with us til late
And here in midsummer
down on the beach
the atmosphere will be great

We’ve friends who are coming
from miles away
we have not seen for some time
So you can be sure
that we’ll celebrate
and that everything will be fine

60/40 is here
Party and music
and dancing you can be sure
For this is the moment
for many months
that we have been waiting for

This year, my soulmate Sal and I turned 60 and, in July we’ll see our 40th wedding anniversary. As good an excuse for a party if ever there was one! (Photo – Jempics)

The dance, the drum

Sometimes when no one is watching
I will dance around my name
with a loud drum always banging
which never sound the same
Yes, it’s always rhythmic
but the pattern’s one of change
Its signature and syntax
quite often rearranged

Synonymous with freedom
My name just like my drum
is one that’s good to dance to
for me and everyone
So as life brings me the rhythm
likewise I sam set free
and the dancing it continues
unequivocally

Life Music

Quite often then
my eyes will dance
‘tho my feet
are slower there
For there is music
all around
in life most
everywhere

Drum

The wooden floors vibrated
from the sound of many drums
Rhythm everywhere around
enjoyed by everyone
And I danced to special timbre
pulsated by the beat
from heart and soul and head and hands
right down to my feet

I danced

I danced like no one was watching
really let myself go
right from the start when the music was fast
to the moment it took me down slow

I danced when the goosebumps tingled
right there all down my spine
I danced as all of the music
was unique and especially mine

The Welly

The feet upon the wooden floor
Are moving to the beat
as conversation struggles
for those who’ve found a seat
The man up on the microphone
is getting really loud
But the music’s really throbbing
and is pleasing to the crowd

There’s a lot of different footwear
but one purpose to the fore
To tap and move and dance and spin
on this old wooden floor
And at the Duke of Wellington
with friends in Shoreham here
A lovely time was had by all
with music and a beer
