Aspects of Gold I

Part 1 of 3

Golden the sunshine
Drips from the sky
To the water below
As sunsets come by
And the river just glows
To this golden encore
As I’m caught in the moment
With wonder and awe

Adriatic Sunset

2 of 16 in the Jemverse ‘Venetian Vistas’ series

As Adriatic sunset came
the sun fell on the sea
and glinted golden on the waves
where it shone brilliantly
Dubrovnik settled to the dusk
as we set sail on par
leaving after nightfall
and heading off to Bar
Montenegro beckons now
The lights fade with the view
Dubrovnik has been wonderful
but now we’re off to somewhere new

Golden

It had the power with beauty
to make you stop and stare
and simply marvel at it
or take a picture there
Golden, proud and splendid
not a one passed by
Everybody slowing and
breathing a deep sigh
For here was autumn’s glory
available and free
presented here with wonder
in this lovely London tree

Autumn’s Glory

It’s lovely in St James’ Park
around this time of year
As all the trees are turning
now the autumn time is here
It’s golden everywhere I look
with leaves upon the ground
Autumn’s glory captured
in the treasure here I’ve found

A last word from the sun

To the west was the gold
over Brighton tonight
It was simply breathtaking
and a wonderful sight

The heavens were black
Cloud cover complete
except in the west where
the golden had seeped

And as the sun bade farewell
at the end of the day
It was clear to us all
it had plenty to say

Last Sunrise

If I didn’t know better (and maybe I don’t)
it was almost as if the sun
had something of a point to prove
with another day begun

For again to the east in a grand golden glow
it rose up and grabbed little me
My senses there in overload
rather spectacularly

This is bordering frankly on overkill
but then who am I to mind?
For I’d be hard pressed a better sight
anywhere else to find

Last Sunset

And so the final sunset
the best was saved ’til last
It really was a gorgeous one
as I walked slowly past
It cast wide golden washes
upon the silken sea
as the tide crept in a final time
from the estuary

And trundling from the Pierhead
the 4.30 train rolled by
As the sun sank down into the west
and I began to cry
The tears rolled freely down my cheeks
but no sadness there you know
For this sunset was amongst the best
of sunsets as they go
