Got the text on Monday morning
best news I have had
as today in just a little while
I’ll have had the job
And yes, we’ll still be careful
but if you need a thing
to put a smile upon your face
and give you cause to sing
Then this is up there at the top
of all the things to give
Something truly wonderful
allowing all to live

Ten thousand

Walked ten thousand steps today
recorded on my wrist
Still need to get my head round that
but I think I’ve got the gist
An early birthday present
tracking fitness on my phone
Syncing all by Bluetooth
where my progress is then shown

I love this new technology
it really is the best
Recording everything I do
when active or at rest
Tracking calorific intake
and calorific burn
Balancing one against the other
with every step and turn

And although it’s still quite new to me
with less speed and more of haste
It seems that I’ve already lost
some inches from my waist
So long may this continue
exercising will be fun
Especially if as a result
I get a svelte-like tum!

Salt cave

Sitting in a salt cave
Breathing deep the air
Relaxing for an hour
In the quietness there
Feeling natural remedy
Take away the wheeze
My laboured breath reducing
Gently here with ease
Sitting in a salt cave
With the music of the sea
Can’t think of any other place
I’d at present rather be

Carpe Diem

There’s nothing much better
than when under the weather
you start to feel well again
and come back together

The coughing and spluttering
disappears and takes flight
and it’s quite wonderful to get
a full sleep at night

Awakening refreshed
‘Carpe Diem’ in mind
You’re yourself once again
with life out there to find

Fasting day diets

Fasting day diets’ are part of a diet called the ‘Two Five’ diet. It’s a no-brainer as far as I’m concerned. You pick two days of a week (any two) and restrict your calorific intake to 600 for a man; 500 for a woman on those two days. But for the other five, there’s no limit – you can eat what you want. And it works! Last year I lost over a stone in just six weeks.

Better days

My bonsai has seen better days
He looks a bit like how I feel
Ailing somewhat at the mo
But hoping soon to heal

I think there’s sign of new growth there
With little shoots of green
He just needs a bit more TLC
Before he’s back to where he’s been
