Serves me well

The ocean’s pull grabs me again
draws me to its windswept shore
and breathing deep the salty air
I take it in for more and more

Those waves. Those mountains moving
that deep green valley surge
captivate magnificence
with whim and frequent urge

For this is solace. This is calm
despite the gathered swell
As when I’m here on dampened shores
I’m whole. It serves me well

Ebb and Flow

As waters come and go
and change with passing tide
and ebb and flow and flow and ebb
across the oceans wide

So insignificant stand I
so small beside this might
Its grandeur and magnificence
a truly awesome sight

Perfection in Pink

The Clematis against the fence
of the allotment in Ham Field
has many words which might describe
the beauty here revealed

But I’ll keep it nice and simple
the best thing here I think
and simply say in these eight lines
perfection’s here in pink

Magnificent II

Long shadows with October
the days dawn cold and bright
and the sunshine in the eastern sky
provides a gorgeous sight
Glinting on the water
and magnificently gold
Rising over Shoreham beach
to the river in the cold

And it really would be nothing
short of a crime for me
not to stop and take a photograph
for you good folk to see
My words don’t do it justice
but a picture never lies
So here you have it, golden
right there before your eyes

Magnificent

Today I sat out in the sunshine
for the first time so far this year
The bluebells had made an appearance
It was lovely out there with a beer
I gave the long grass a hair cut
and breathed its fresh fragrance in
It was all a bit magnificent
said the smile behind my wide grin
