Serves me well

The ocean’s pull grabs me again
draws me to its windswept shore
and breathing deep the salty air
I take it in for more and more

Those waves. Those mountains moving
that deep green valley surge
captivate magnificence
with whim and frequent urge

For this is solace. This is calm
despite the gathered swell
As when I’m here on dampened shores
I’m whole. It serves me well

My Window

Sitting here in sunlight
at my window to the world
Watching as another day
is bit by bit unfurled
It’s peaceful here and seldom
will I glance to see below
A passer by or traffic
drifting by my house you know
For mostly I am working
or writing in my book
Oblivious to life outside
save for the furtive look

Twelve months nine

No.2 of 12 in the ‘Twelve Months’ series

One-day respite for September
the month of nine is here
A birthstone of pure sapphire
and a message which is clear
It’s flower of birth – Forget-me-not
and Morning Glory too
Synonymous with sunshine
Summer’s end here to bestrew

First Daisy

When I first see a daisy
in the sunshine I will sing
For it heralds Winter’s passing
and arrival of the Spring
