Today it is the sixtieth
that we have seen so far
in twenty twenty-three
now March is here on par
Equal that is to Springtime
in meteorological term
the first day that it happens
you will be pleased to learn
For we are done with winter
warmth is now what we all need
to brush away the cobwebs
and bring new life with speed
Twelve scribings revisited; Part 3 in the Jemverse ‘Malleable Days’ series
Green grass freshly mown
breathe deep smell the loam
Green shoots on the trees
sprouting now into leaves
Green fronds nature tells
there will be sun and then bluebells
Green April leaps to spring
giving life to everything
Concluding the Jemverse ’12 months III’ series [12 of 12]
Inevitably August time
when this month comes around
would see us looking forward
to a holiday we’d found
Somewhere hot and balmy
and usually on a ship
far across the ocean
for our destination trip
But this year it is staycation
abroad will have to wait
maybe next year in twenty-one
yes, that would be great
This year it’s way too risky
and the cruise ships are all banned
so we will stay on England’s shore
in this green, pleasant land
And if the August weather
stays kind and brings the sun
the beach will be the place to go
until each day is done
So I’m ending this long series
First of August, end of year
with hope for days of sunshine
which always bring good cheer
[The ’12 months III’ series, concluding today, comprises twelve poems published on the 1st of each month starting with 190901. A new year-long series starts next month with ‘Beginning I’]
September comes, the harvest month
of forget-me-knots and glory
A stone of sapphire, Virgo too
and Libra for the story
The ninth of the Gregorian
and first in this new series
From Jemverse for another year
in answer to your queries
Today marks the start of the second Jemverse “12 months” series. Twelve poems long, there’ll be one on of the first of each month right through to August 2019.
One-day respite for September
the month of nine is here
A birthstone of pure sapphire
and a message which is clear
It’s flower of birth – Forget-me-not
and Morning Glory too
Synonymous with sunshine
Summer’s end here to bestrew
...all about me and my life in words. I write most days, carrying an ideas book around in which I capture a word snapshot of life around me. So there's a lot here about Sussex and the sea and anything else I see that inspires.
The pictures are mine too. Some taken to match a poem; some poems written to match a pic; others chosen because they work well with words written.
Jemverse is life in words. Hope you enjoy the reading as much as I enjoy the writing...
