Pleasant enough

It’s pleasant enough

sitting out in the sun

with a dog at my side

and a pen on the run

Capturing words

here in full flow

from the mind of a poet

to the pages below

It’s pleasant enough

when a morning is warm

and the joys of the Spring

are becoming the norm

Forming the syntax

of something that is

a moment of pleasure

and seems right for this

When the poetry is done

I’ll wrap these words around me
like a comfort blanket they
Calming me and warming
in a very special way

I’ll take these words and scatter
like confetti to the breeze
to celebrate the marriage
of a verse to rhymes like these

I’ll craft these words so precious
A treasure every one
as collective they bring riches
when the poetry is done

These Words

These words on a page
in my little book
I’ll return to again
for another good look
As I’ll craft them and
often I’ll rearrange
for the syntax to work
from a nuance or change
And then when I’m happy
with what my words say
I’ll give them a name
and call it a day
