No. 5 of 7 in the Jemverse ‘Haikuweek’ series

And then it’s Thursday
with the smell of roses there
on tomorrow’s air

No. 3 of 7 in the Jemverse ‘Haikuweek’ series

And into Tuesday
It seems I seamlessly drift
with smiles to seldom

Awakened to hot coffee

To the resting day

1 of 7 in the Jemverse ‘Haikuweek’ series

To the resting day
I relinquish everything
My soul is refreshed

Only on turning

Only in turning
can I see the behind
and the years that have now passed me by
Shielding my eyes
I look to the past
and the distance in which they now lie

It is a good view
and I like what I find
but with short swivel forward I see
As only on turning
can I see what’s ahead
and the years that lie waiting for me

The Gift

It seems with writing
I’ve the gift
to find the words
which bring a lift

In finding rhyme
for every ditty
sometimes I’m droll
sometimes I’m witty

But always to
this syntax found
I’m to the reader
duty bound

For rhyme and rhythm
are the thing
as every line
should make you sing
