For the dancing

I wrote a few lines
with some words to digest
which I hope you’ll embrace
and in them invest
For they came from the heart
and a dance in my mind
And have their own music
to help you unwind

With a meter and rhythm
to which there’s a beat
Silent but clear to you
there in your seat
They are words with a meaning
and substance and form
They mean you no harm
and comply to the norm

To me they give beauty
and I hope you’ll agree
as you read and digest
here this fine poetry
And when you have finished
as they come to an end
I hope you’ll agree
these words are a friend

Always there for you waiting
Supportive and fair
Ever willing to dance
Always happy to share
Words are the music
that life dances to
Embracing the essence
that’s all around you

And all that the poet
has then to achieve
is give voice to the music
for you and for me
And like a dance to the paper
to seize and embrace
We’ll join in the moment
with gusto and grace

So here’s a few lines
with some words to digest
Which I hope you’ve embraced
and will now invest
For the dancing is there
and the music is good
And as you have read
I know you’ve understood

Brushing off cobwebs

The sun shone on Tuesday
I felt its warmth in my face
and its brightness bathed
light all over the place
And I danced in that light
with a spring in my gait
It’s essence sufficient
to now satiate

A longing I’ve pined for
these long winter days
Renewed in the sunshine
and new light that plays
And I felt myself waking
Come alive to the Spring
Brushing off cobwebs
with abandon to fling

The Yellow II

You know I’ve quite missed the yellow
in all of the blue
that’s been hanging around for a while
So it’s good to find colour
reminiscent of Spring
that brings with it zest and a smile

It’s right there in the sunshine
and daffodils too
poking their heads from the ground
The harshness of winter
slip slides away
as they rise to the warmth they have found

And then it was Spring

And then it was Spring
February gave up the ghost
and the sunshine came back in a day
One day it was winter
The next warmth returned
to bring a resounding ‘hooray’

Spring also in step
I opened the doors
and let the stranger back in
It looked all around
So I said ‘Anywhere
will do for me now” with a grin

The sunshine sat down
and I joined it right there
turning my face to the sky
And seeing the blue
in a moment I knew
That Springtime was back with a sigh

The passing of days

To the week that was
That has now passed
It’s had its ups and downs
Some high times
And some lower ones
Some smiles and yes, some frowns

I’ve worked it well
I’ve worked it hard
I’ve taken every hour
And used it wisely
Making most
Of honesty and power

But now it’s Sunday
Yet again
And rest comes to this frame
Before the morrow
Brings with it
Another week again
